  5. With POS PLUS Scale Management, supermarkets can now maintain item and price
  6. files on all scales from a single in-store processor. Item maintenance is
  7. available directly from the host via the in-store processor or through
  8. standalone ISP. Generally, Scale Management is run off of the store controller
  9. or ISP which saves the cost of an additional PC. In addition, Scale Management
  10. can be tailored to accept existing host communicated files which saves the cost
  11. of developing redundant communications systems. Scale Management benefits
  12. include substantially reduced in-store data entry, improved price integrity and
  13. government compliance, and increased scannability. Some scale management
  14. packages tie the retailer to future purchases from that scale manufacturer but
  15. POS PLUS Scale Management makes the retailer independent of the scale
  16. manufacturer, thus permitting them to buy scales that meet their current needs,
  17. independent of previous purchase decisions.
